“This year
Tralee RFC won the Munster Junior Club of the Year award for all the efforts it
has put in over the past few years in growing its membership and training its
officials to the highest possible standards.” Said Adrian Grey, Club
Chairman“The results are that we won 7
titles at various ages this year, an achievement never before seen in West Munster! We
have advocated the support of Munster Rugby all along the way with teams going
on tour each year to see them play in Wales. This is the finest complement they can bestow
on our players by visiting us!”
Jay Galvin,
Director of Rugby at the club reflected “After first with John Sullivan, and
now with Danny Barnes & Patrick O’Regan regularly donning the Red Jersey
for the province, and many others playing in AIL senior club teams, Tralee is
getting a reputation as a feeder club.We are getting our basics right and that is being recognised at senior
levels in Munster Rugby. When you look
at other provinces who have managed to get cross code players onto their senior
teams it was inevitable that a Kerry club would influence the game in Munster.”
President of the
Tralee RFC, Leslie Benner “I wholeheartedly welcome the Munster Team to Tralee for their pre-season training session. This offers the public & members of our
club an opportunity to watch up close the training methods of the
professionals.Each Saturday in the
season I come up to watch up to 500 children being trained by our very able and
well trained coaches.This gives those
coaches a chance to watch and learn from the professionals. It is also a great honour for the club to
have some of the greatest players in the country visit us.We would invite all members to visit on this
special occasion to see some of their heroes in action up close”
The Munster training
sessions will take place in O’Dowd Park on Friday 16th July from
10.30am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 2.45pm.All who wish to come and watch are most welcome but we would ask that
you respect and obey the stewards and club officials on the day.Autograph signing and meeting the team will
be restricted to after training sessions.
